From the start of the first page this book was intriguing. Madison James Kawolski is attending the funeral of who she thinks is her late ex-boyfriend.. While at the funeral she sees the face of the man who should be laying in the coffin. She learns the man she once thought she knew turn out to be a complete stranger with a life and a twin she knew nothing of. Madison goes on the hunt to find out who exactly her ex was and why he stole $50,000 dollars from and then vanished without a trace. She's stuck in this small town trying to get back money that is owed to her so that she can go through with her adoption of a baby girl named Angie. The more Madison digs to find out who her ex was, the stories she hears, and the people she meets don't add up. Something is wrong in this little town and she's not leaving without finding out exactly what is it. As Madison is hard at work she begins being followed and attacked, with no one to turn to she finds a friend in Rae, a loving, selfless, Christian woman with a heart of gold. In the end, nothing is as it seems and Madison turns to faith to help her figure out how and why people change.
I absolutely enjoyed this book from beginning to end! There was never a dull moment and the writing was great. I loved all the characters in the book and the way the author gave each person a small town charm. Laurie Norlander did a great job with keeping the mysteries growing until the very end of the book. As soon as you thought you had an idea what was going on, there was something that happened that knocked you back down to reality as you realized you had no clue. This is the first novel I've read from Laurie Norlander but I intend to read more.
